You are at the Starting Line!
Inspired by recently watching the Olympics and remembering Eleanor Roosevelt’s wise words, “You must do the things you think you can not do” - I wanted to take this opportunity to remind you that You’re Just Getting Started!
Whether you find yourself in the midst of a midlife edit, at the beginning of your professional or parenting journey, or at an all too familiar crossroads in life, Today we all BEGIN AGAIN.

I am right there with you, living at the center of contradiction. Being at the starting line of a new adventure at this point in life feels strange to describe. It’s like wearing a new sweater that looks just like one I used to have, but feels different on my body and shapes me differently.
As our careers change and our kids grow more independent, the horizon is suddenly more expansive. That space can be inviting and also daunting. Which brings me to one of my favorite concepts - the power of embracing the paradox.
As I’ve written about previously, there’s a freedom that comes with acknowledging the light living in the dark; the yin existing because of the yang. See BIG Ideas vol. 3
I have always believed in the impact of words and the stories we tell ourselves to change our narrative. When we Change the words, we can alter the outcome, pivot the perspective, and affect our future. These are the true fundamentals of growth and learning. Yet there are some things many of us know, but do not make the time to practice. Notice the use of my words: to “make” time, not “find” time. As that is what life is truly all about.
With this messaging and mantra in mind, I wanted to take a moment to share a few ideas to help support you in BEGINNING AGAIN wherever you find yourself:
It is not too late to be who you have always been.
Be brave enough to suck at something
Take the leaps that scare you
Do it anyway
Who you are to yourself is who you will be to others. Be true. Be You.
Clarity comes from movement, not standing still. Your path is created as you walk it.
Surround yourself with those that bring out your favorite version of yourself.
Don’t wait to Understand Yourself. All your knowledge is about the past, and all your decisions are about the future. Start living and loving consciously.
Do more things that make you forget to check your phone - no one ever said they wish they’d spent more time on a screen!
I hope you will see this as your subtle signal to start!
Every Decision you make is a reflection of how you feel about yourself. Ask yourself, is it pressure or possibility, burden or blessing? Remembering that Everything is temporary. The real power comes when you let go of the attachment to “what was” and open yourself to “what’s next.” Some limits are illusions. Some old perceptions trap us in quicksand, unable to reach the starting line again.
It may have been Eleanor and the Olympians that ignited my thoughts today, but it is my two adult children who serve as my constant sources of motivation, inspiration, and endless gratitude.
💥 Eight years ago, while touring college campuses with our daughter, she turned to me and said, “I know that when I do something that scares me, I grow.”
💥 Last month, while training to run his first full marathon, our son saw I was discouraged and responded by saying, “Whatever it is… it doesn’t get easier, you just get stronger.”
💥 Wisdom beyond their years, words that reverberate beyond the page -
